The George Inn is an award winning, 17th Century free house situated in the charming village of Croscombe, just outside of the historic city of Wells in Somerset. The George Inn offers great food, comfortable guest rooms and boasts an enviable location at the foothills of the Mendip Hills with miles of unspoilt, countryside walks right on the doorstep – perfect for furry four legged visitors!

There are 3, well appointed guest rooms – each with en suite showers rooms and one room has a bath and a shower. They all include a TV and tea & coffee making facilities. The rooms are pet friendly and consist of two doubles room and one room which can be set up as either a twin bedded or double room.

Breakfast can be as simple as a takeaway bacon sandwich for workmen having to leave early, or the full works enjoying our traditional full English breakfast consisting of local eggs, bacon, black pudding, local sausages, toast and our own homemade marmalade and there is fresh juice, yoghurt and cereals also available.

We have a snug area with seating for 10, our restaurant with seating for up to 30, the old tack room that seats 20 and the main bar which can seat another 30. In the summer, don’t forget our lovely beer garden with a lovely terrace area and retractable awning. We have a swing for the children and our tables and chairs in the garden can seat another 30 with ease.

There are great walks, cycle routes, climbing and caving opportunities right on our doorstep and we are also just two miles from Shepton Mallet and Wells. We are also within easy reach of many local attractions such as Wells Cathedral, Glastonbury Abbey, the Bath & West Showground, Cheddar Gorge, Longleat, Stourhead, Clarks Village, Wookey Hole Caves and Glastonbury Tor.
