Oak Cottage - Smithy Park provides self catering accommodation in the village of Abermule, between Montgomery and Newton in Mid Wales. We are great for a relaxing and peaceful holiday in Powys, whilst an array of attractions are waiting to be discovered in the area.

Our ground level cottage has been refurbished to a high standard to suit all your needs. This cottage sleeps 4 and is ideal for a family or group getaway. Enjoy some home-cooking in the well-equipped kitchen which benefits from a small breakfast bar, a great spot for breakfast over a morning coffee. A utility room has a wash/dryer and an ironing board.

A large living room with a dining area has 2 large reclining sofas, a TV and log effect fire for the winter months. Double doors open onto a patio overlooking the lawn, a great spot for a glass of wine in the evening sun. You can also unwind in the light filled conservatory, the perfect sun trap.

Two comfortable bedrooms are available: a master bedroom with a double bed and a twin room. Both rooms share a family room. Additionally, there is a second toilet and wash basin.

While staying with us you can receive a fishing permit to fish on the River Severn. Fast water fishing includes trout and salmon, plus grayling, chubb and other coarse fish.

You can visit the local market town of Newton which is only a 5-minute car ride away. The town is home to interesting shops, boutiques, a recently renovated traditional market hall, The Robert Owen Museum and Oriel Galley. You can also visit the bustling market town of Welshpool which hosts regular farmers markets. Attractions to visit include:
