Ilderton Dod Barns are a collection of beautifully appointed self catering holiday homes, hidden away on a working hill farm near Wooler. The barns are converted farm buildings and perfect for those who want a break away from the hustle and bustle of busy city living. They are just over a mile up a private farm track and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Northumberland countryside.

The Barn:

Formerly cow byres and hayloft, this has been carefully renovated to provide comfortable accommodation for up to 8 people. Inside you will find:

Two large shower rooms.

Kitchen.

Open plan living/dining area.

Large bedroom for up to 8 people. The bedroom has a double bed, 4 single beds and a sturdy bunk with dividing curtains for privacy.

Please keep the dogs downstairs only. £10 per dog per stay. Up to 3 dogs.

Cuckoo Cottage:

This cottage was previously used as stables and kennels, and now offers cosy accommodation for a couple or small family. Inside you will find:

Double bedroom with one single bed/cot on the first floor.

Shower room.

Kitchen.

Open plan living/dining area.

Please keep the dogs downstairs onle. £10 per dog per stay. Up to 2 dogs.

Both holiday homes have washing machines, dishwashers, BBQ areas and outdoor seating, lockable bike storage and wood burning stoves.

The barns are a special place to stay for walkers, cyclists, nature lovers and those who are in search for peace and quiet. There is no light pollution as the barns are within the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, bird life is everywhere and the surrounding hay meadows are well-known for their insect life, with the meadows previously receiving an award for the wide variety of native bees. In addition to the stunning views and wildlife, there are also at least six ancient monuments on the farm – Roman camps, cup and ring marks and so on.

This 1,800-acre hill farm is 45 miles north of Newcastle and 70 miles south of Edinburgh. It is 16 miles inland from Alnwick and just under 10 miles from Wooler, a small market town – a lot less if you walk or ride! We are situated in the Cheviot Hills between the Breamish and Harthope Valleys, at the foot of Hedgehope with Cheviot, Northumberland’s highest peak, nestling alongside. A section of the Sandstone Way runs past the door of The Barns, National Cycle Network route 68 passes the road end, The Pennine Way is within 2 miles and there are multiple footpaths and bridleways crossing the farm.
