The Owl At Hawnby offers a charming bar with roaring fires, fantastic bedrooms for a restful night’s sleep and delicious food using local produce, perfect for a memorable break in York. We are nestled in the heart of North York Moors National Park, boasting a gorgeous countryside location to enjoy.

Our pub dates from the 19th Century and has been transformed into a cosy country pub which serves great food and offers excellent en suite accommodation. We have nine English country-style bedrooms to choose from in total, including some with amazing countryside views. All the rooms include an array of high-quality facilities:

You can tuck into some mouth-watering meals in one of our two restaurants (one is dog friendly). The fresh menu changes with the seasons and only offers the finest ingredients. Whether it’s beer-battered haddock or pan-seared salmon, we have something for everyone. For those with a sweet tooth, indulge with a sticky toffee pudding or chocolate brownie afterward. On Monday to Saturday, we offer a wonderful wood-fired pizza from our shepherds hut in The Courtyard. A great spot to enjoy some homemade pizza whilst savouring the spectacular views.

The bar offers a selection of beverages to enjoy, including hand-pulled ales and carefully selected wines.

The gorgeous little village of Hawnby is surrounded by some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire, a true haven for walkers and cyclists, with lots of walking/cycling routes in the area. You can visit Rievaulx Abbey & Cafe, a stunning ruin which is nestled in a peaceful area of woodland and surrounded by beautiful gardens. History fans can also visit the 13 Century ruins of Helmsley Castle which still stands guard over the Rye Valley. Brilliant attractions to visit include:
