Details

Welcome! The Bacchus is a delightful part 17th Century Coaching Inn, recently refurbished yet maintaining its old-world charm and home from home ambience. Situated on the gardens of the Bacchus, we have 5 luxury cabins for rental. See our Website and ask staff for details regarding dogs prior to booking.

The Bacchus continues to be an iconic hotel building situated in a commanding position, approx. 100 metres from the award-winning ‘Blue Flag’ Beach and amenities on the High Street.

For the past 20+ years, the Bacchus has been under the helm of David and Jane Smith. They have undertaken a continual programme of refurbishment with the aim of maintaining the charm and tradition which dates back to 1691, encompassed with an updated twist.

Our staff are a credit to the Bacchus, they hold a genuine affection to both the Hotel which is shown through their friendly and professional approach to visitors and customers alike. Team work is a key issue which drives the business, resulting in a home from home atmosphere, personal service and efficiency.

The Bacchus offers 23 bedrooms ranging from twin, double and family rooms all with either ensuite shower or bathroom. We have an easy to use stair lift for visitors needing aid to climb the stairs, free wi-fi throughout the Hotel, tea/coffee making facilities and colour TV in all bedrooms.

The Hotel has a large Barista Coffee / Tea Lounge, a spacious Eatery Lounge/Bar, Reception, intimate restaurant for smaller gatherings and large Function Room/Restaurant housing approximately 120 people, with newly attached extension. Both restaurants/function rooms are ideal for gatherings such as meetings, weddings, funerals, christenings and birthday parties. Both have lovely views of the lawns, patio and gardens. We are ‘disabled friendly’.

The rear of the premises has a spacious car park for residents and visitors, with CCTV installed throughout.

Sutton on Sea is a quaint almost untouched little seaside village in North East Lincolnshire. Its beautiful golden beach stretches to nearby Mablethorpe, Anderby Creek, Chapel St Leonards. There are places of interest such as nearby market towns of Alford, Louth and the City of Lincoln (approx. 1 hours by car).

Sutton boasts a prestigious ‘Blue Flag’ beach award, has a modern children’s play area and outdoor paddling pool, plus an array of seaside shops.

Sutton’s almost ‘untouched’ natural presence gives a nostalgic feeling of traditional seaside holidays of yesteryear.

The history of the Bacchus dates back to 1691! In the Fifteenth Century, the Jolly Bacchus (as it was then known) became a livery stable and ale house for seamen and traders using the then Port, mainly from Lincoln and Horncastle. The history is breathtaking, with photos of Victorian holiday makers playing tennis on the lawns to images of the disastrous floods in the 1950s displayed in the Hotel Bars.
