• We are located ½ mile from the village of Blakeney on the A48, half way between Gloucester and Chepstow.

• Wenchford (Blackpool Brook) Picnic area 1.2 miles away, either by road, or a walk through Blakeney Hill Woods

• Mallards Pike (Go Ape) and Dean Heritage Centre 2.2 miles, either by road, or a walk through Blakeney Hill Woods

• Puzzlewood, Perrygrove railway, Beechenhurst, Cannop Ponds, and many more attractions in the Forest, all within 8 miles.

• Gloucester – 13 miles, Cheltenham – 20 miles

• Cheltenham Racecourse – 23 miles (drop off and pick up to Lydney Station can be arrange. Lydney has a direct service to Cheltenham Spa and there are shuttle buses which run to the racecourse during the Cheltenham Festival.

• Abergavenny (for the Food Festival) – 29 miles

6. Things to be aware of.

• The Cottage is on Blakeney Hill – it’s steep and the roads are narrow.

• The drive is also steep. Low profile cars may ground out on the drive. Please let us know of any concerns in advance.

• Owners have 4 x English Springer Spaniels. If you’re dog is timid or unhappy with other dogs, then please let us know if advance.

• Both bedrooms are part of the original cottage, with a small footprint. Whilst the cottage is designed for people with mobility issues, it will be difficult to get a wheelchair into the downstairs bathroom. However, a walking frame and/or crutches are available on request. Also, the stairs to the first floor bedroom are steeper than the current industry standard.

• Change over days are Friday for weekly stays, Monday, Wednesday or Friday for short break. Other arrangements are possible if booking last minute.

• Check in is 4pm, and check out is 10am.

• A welcome pack will be provided. Please let us know is advance is there are any dietary requirements.

• Any questions at all, please contact us. We want to ensure your stay is a comfortable as possible. With 4 dogs ourselves, and one of us disabled, we know how frustrating it can be when you arrive at your destination to find the property is not what is expected.

Overview.

Wych Hazel Cottage is a newly renovated and extended traditional Forrester’s Cottage which is now ready to accept guests. Originally built in the mid 1800 of Blakeney red stone, it has been sympathetically renovated to expose the natural stonework. The property is situation on Blakeney Hill with panoramic views over the river Severn to the Cotswolds.

Entering though the main door into a spacious open plan living, dining and kitchen area. To the left is the lounge area, with a TV and Apple TV box where you have access to all your TV apps. To the right is the dining area with large sliding doors, where you can enjoy the spectacular view; and the kitchen area which is well equipment with all the usual appliances.

Off the open plan living area is the bathroom, with walk in shower and large bath. There is also the entry to the original stone cottage where there is a downstairs and upstairs bedroom. Both bedrooms have king-size zip and link beds, which, on request, can be made up as 2 x 2’6” single beds. The downstairs bedroom has direct access onto the patio area.

Outside there is extensive patio area to the front and side. To the side of the main entrance door there is a utility room and outside covered storage area. In the utility room is a fridge freezer and washing machine, area for hanging wet coats and boots. The covered storage area has space to store mountain bikes etc. The is also a dog washing facility with hot and cold water.

• Kitchen dining area, with LPG hob and oven, undercounter fridge (with small freezer box), dishwasher and all the usual kitchen equipment. Dining table with 4 chairs. Glass roof light exposing the full height of the original stone cottage, and large patio doors to the patio area. (there is a small step through the patio doors, but level access is achieved through the main entrance).

• Lounge area, with comfortable seating (throws available if you dogs like snuggles), TV and Apple TV box (which has Netflix Disney+, Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer etc)

• Bathroom – walk in shower with rainfall and wand, shower seat, comfort height toilet, large bath with grab rails, non-slip flooring.

• Outside utility room with washing machine, drying racks, small fridge freezer. Outside the utility room is an undercover storage area and a dog washing facility.

Detailed Pricing Information:

Low Season - Jan/Feb/March/Oct/Nov/Dec - £135 per night.

Mid Season - April/May June/September and Feb & Oct Half Term - £150 per night.

High Season - July/August and Cheltenham Festival, Easter, Whitsun, Christmas and New Year - £180 per night.
