Cleavers Lyng in East Sussex offers bed and breakfast accommodation it is an ideal base for exploring 1066 Country. Located just outside of Herstmonceux it is a grade II listed Country Guesthouse of considerable charm and character, with a history dating back to 1577. The original part of the house was built during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I to which the oak beams and inglenook fireplace in the breakfast area bear witness.
All of our guest bedrooms are en suite and double (with one converting into a twin). Complete with solid oak doors, some with antique furniture and all with quality thick carpets, each room is individually styled to offer optimum comfort and character. if you prefer something a little lighter in the mornings, choose from a selection of cereals, exotic fresh fruit salad, yogurts, toast and warmed croissants served with home made marmalade and jam. A selection of teas, coffee and fruit juices are also available.
Eating Out Locally
There are a number of restaurants we can personally recommend in Herstmonceux village, including a bistro, the Eastern Promise Indian, the Sundial restaurant offering French cuisine and two local pubs with more traditional menus.
The nearby towns of Hailsham, Bexhill and Eastbourne also offer a variety of eateries to suit all tastes – from fish and chips to Chinese, Thai and Mexican. Set amidst elegant gardens ablaze with colour during the spring and summer months with glorious views across unspoiled Sussex countryside. Our one and half acres of landscaped gardens have a wealth of birds and wildlife and are secluded and very peaceful. We have plenty of off road parking. For those that like to take a long walk or a short stroll you can take both directly from the property, with over 500 acres of the Herstmonceux Castle Estate or the hundreds of acres over the Pevensey Marshes.
