Forest Edge is a dog-friendly site located just a 10-minute drive from Sidmouth, surrounded by countryside trails and only 35 minutes from Dartmoor National Park. It’s an ideal spot for those seeking a simple, nature-filled getaway with bike rides, beach days and evenings around the campfire.

Set in a peaceful, tree-lined rural area within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the site offers access to a network of scenic walking and cycling routes that wind through woodlands, open heaths and river valleys. It’s a tranquil base for anyone wanting to reconnect with the outdoors.

On-site, you can hire a firepit and log bundle complete with firelighters and kindling for those cosy evenings. The site also provides fresh water points, a toilet block and hot showers for your comfort. Dogs are very welcome too, as long as they’re kept on a lead while on site, making Forest Edge a perfect retreat for both people and their four-legged friends.

After 10pm, Forest Edge observes quiet time in designated zones so guests can enjoy a restful night’s sleep. It’s likely you’ll be ready for some rest after a day of roaming the site’s 30 acres of wild land or visiting nearby National Trust properties.

Just five minutes away is Ottery St Mary, a small town beloved by locals and known for its independent shops and supermarket. For a more relaxed evening, there’s a local pub just a 20-minute walk from the site in the opposite direction.
