Looking for a unique railway carriage or station cottage holiday in the Lake District? Extend your visit with an overnight stay at Ravenglass Station, where we offer three railway-inspired self-catering properties on the Lake District coast, within two UNESCO World Heritage sites: the Lake District National Park and the Frontiers of the Roman Empire.

Our self-catering properties are ideally located overlooking the railway line, adding new meaning to the term 'railway sleeper.' Guests also enjoy a 75% discount on standard fares for railway travel (subject to availability). While our main season runs from March to October, trains also operate during the February half-term and for festive events in December.

Our Pullman Camping Coaches, Elmira and Maid of Kent, are heritage Pullman Coaches beautifully restored with National Lottery funding, in partnership with the Ravenglass Railway Museum. The former station manager's Hilton Cottage is located on platform one and all our properties offer views over the railway line.

Elmira Pullman Coach - Sleeps 4

This Lake District railway carriage accommodates 4-5 guests (maximum 4 adults and 1 child) with one double bedroom, a twin room and a "bed in a box" in the lounge area. The kitchen is equipped with a kettle, two-slice toaster, two-ring electric hob, microwave, tabletop convection oven/grill and a fridge with a freezer compartment. There’s space for a travel cot (not provided) in the master bedroom. Holiday start days are Monday for 4-night stays and Friday for 3-night stays.

Maid of Kent Pullman Coach - Sleeps 4

This high-quality, dog-friendly Lake District railway carriage offers self-catering accommodation for 4-5 guests (maximum 4 adults and 1 child). It features one double room, a twin room and a "bed in a box" in the lounge. The kitchen is equipped with a kettle, two-slice toaster, two-ring electric hob, microwave, tabletop convection oven/grill and a fridge with freezer compartment. There’s also room for a travel cot (not provided) in the master bedroom. Holidays start on Mondays for 4-night stays and Fridays for 3-night stays.

Hilton Cottage - Sleeps 6

Hilton Cottage, once the railway manager's home, sits on platform 1 near the carriage works. This quirky self-catering property combines nostalgic charm with modern amenities. The living area features two sofas, one a sofa bed, offering views of the arriving steam trains. The fully equipped kitchen includes an electric hob, oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and wine cooler. The master bedroom overlooks the railway and has an en-suite shower, while the second bedroom offers twin beds. Both rooms have TVs and USB sockets. A spacious shower room is located at the end of the hallway. Outside, an enclosed patio provides seating for four, perfect for enjoying morning coffee or evening drinks while watching the steam trains.
