Once a hydro power substation, it has been thoughtfully renovated into a welcoming holiday retreat, featuring a spacious and light-filled living area. Overlooking forests and fields along the Glen road, West Millfield is a granite cottage that once housed the forestry horse handler and has been authentically renovated to preserve its warm, homely feel. With lower ceilings, wood-panelled walls and beautiful stained glass windows, the cottage exudes character, while a wood-burning stove in the sitting room offers a cosy Highland welcome after a day of exploring. Thoughtfully chosen fabrics enhance the inviting atmosphere, with window seats, cushions and blinds in tasteful patterns. Combining comfort with practicality, West Millfield features a fully equipped kitchen, a separate utility room and a large enclosed garden. Butler's Lodge - Sleeps 6

Butler’s Lodge is a stately cottage in the heart of Glen Tanar, rich in history and full of character. Ideally located near the Ballroom, the Coats Room, Wooden Cottage, the forest and a walled garden, it offers both convenience and a true sense of place. With a spacious open-plan living area, the interiors are thoughtfully finished with furnishings and fabrics that reflect the surrounding landscape. Retaining its authentic charm, the cottage features original doors and even a traditional under-stair cupboard, known as a "glory hole." Once home to Lord Glen Tanar’s butler, who earned £85 a year in 1900 with a weekly beer allowance of three shillings and six pence (17.5p), the cottage now benefits from modern comforts, including heating powered by the estate’s biomass system. With miles of open wilderness, estate tracks and trails, Glen Tanar is perfect for exploring on foot, by bike, or on horseback. Wildlife Photography and exclusive Wildlife Lookout sessions offer the chance to spot badgers, pine martens and even the elusive wildcat. Anglers can enjoy salmon fishing on the River Dee or trout fishing on a private loch, with rod and tackle hire available for beginners.
