Lerwell Farm is situated in beautiful North Devon countryside less than a mile from the picturesque village of Chittlehampton. The village was once a place of pilgrimage to the shrine of St Hieretha, a local Christian martyr in Saxon times. Chittlehampton village square is a conservation area lined with thatched and slated cottages and an impressive church, which was extensively remodelled in the 15th Century.

The Lerwell Farm holding is believed to date back to the 1200's with the Lerwill family relocating elsewhere in North Devon sometime in the late 1400's. The current thatched farmhouse is Grade II listed and was modernised in the late 1600's and later in 2001/2002 after it fell into disuse. The barns were built 1870/1871 and, Mike and Sue, who bought the farm in December 2002, started converting them from Spring 2003. The last barn to be converted was the Granary in 2005.
