HAVE YOU EVER DREAMED OF STAYING AT A LIGHTHOUSE?

Rua Reidh Lighthouse, near Gairloch, stands at the entrance to Loch Ewe, at one of the most dramatic locations on the north-west coast of Scotland, with stunning views across the Minch to the Isle of Skye, the Shiant Isles and the Outer Hebrides. A unique and unusual place to stay!

Built in 1912 by the famous Stevenson family, Rua Reidh is still a working lighthouse, but the original Keepers' Quarters are now privately owned and run as guest accommodation, with twin and double rooms and a self catering apartment.

We're at the end of a single track road, three miles from the nearest neighbour - you won't hear any traffic noise here, just the cries of the seabirds and the sound of the waves. If you like walking, wildlife, peace and solitude you'll love it at Rua Reidh. The opportunities for spotting wildlife are second to none, with whales, dolphins, otters and sea eagles all regularly seen from the lighthouse. There are dramatic walks from the lighthouse along spectacular cliffs with hidden beaches to explore.

Our accommodation is open from Easter to October. Full details are on our website.

Our comfortable guest lounge is furnished with huge squashy sofas that you can snuggle up on, and a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings when it’s chilly outside. Socialise with other guests, play board or card games, or curl up with a good book from our large collection. We also have a TV but the signal is not always very good, particularly when it’s windy.

Meals for residents are served in our conservatory dining room. In the morning we offer a self-service continental breakfast buffet. Each evening we offer a buffet dinner of good, simple home cooking. Vegetarian and special diets can be catered for by arrangement.

We are ideally placed to take advantage of the natural playground, with rock-climbing on the cliffs around the lighthouse and kayaking on the waters of Loch Ewe.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Rua Reidh and are allowed in the bedrooms and all public areas. Free dog-sitting service available to guests – if you want to go out for a meal or somewhere that doesn’t allow dogs we will happily look after your dog while you’re out.
