Whether it’s to explore the beautiful, secluded, white, sandy beaches on your doorstep, to stride out into the rugged wilderness, to marvel at the abundance of wildlife or to simply relax and enjoy the panoramic seascapes from your window, the cottages at Cathair Dhubh will give you a place to escape the hustle and bustle and recharge your batteries, while serving as the perfect base to explore Assynt.

Fern, Orchid, Myrtle and Thistle Cottages: Our two-bedroom cottages are ideal for couples or families. Each cottage has one double bedroom and one twin room, a bathroom with over-bath shower and an open plan kitchen, dining and living area with patio doors leading to an outside seating area. The kitchens are fully equipped with oven, hob and microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine and tumble dryer. The cottages are all centrally heated and fully double-glazed so cosy all year round! They also have satellite TV and Wi-Fi. However, in the spirit of getting away from it all, our Wi-Fi is quite basic and somewhat erratic! So sit back, relax and enjoy a change of pace!

Heather Cottage: With three bedrooms, Heather Cottage is wonderful for larger groups and visitors with mobility difficulties. Two of the bedrooms are twin rooms, each with an en suite shower room. The third bedroom is a ground floor double with en suite bathroom and patio doors to the outside seating area. There is also a downstairs cloakroom. Heather has an open plan kitchen, dining and living area with patio doors leading outside. The kitchen is well equipped with an oven, hob and microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. It is centrally heated and fully double-glazed so super snug whatever the weather! It also has satellite TV, DVD player and WiFi. However, as with the smaller cottages, the Wifi is not that fast and can be intermittent. There's a different pace of life in the Highlands, relax and go with the flow!

Cathair Dhubh looks out over Achmelvich Bay and is set against an awesome backdrop of sandstone mountains. In the hills around the estate, wildlife and birdlife abound. Black-throated divers, otters, red deer, seals, porpoise and sea birds are but a few of our neighbours.

There are many beautiful white sandy beaches in the area, including the award-winning Achmelvich beach where you can enjoy peace and tranquillity and usually solitude.
