The Bear Hotel is famous far and wide for its welcoming atmosphere, historic character, convivial surroundings and great food. Set in the heart of The Brecon Beacons National Park, one of Britain’s most beautiful wilderness areas you'll find some of the finest walks in Britain with the Beacons themselves and The Black Mountains right on our doorstep. It feels like another world yet we're just an hour’s drive from Bristol and less than an hour from Cardiff.

All bedrooms at The Bear offer guests a relaxing night stay and you can sleep in the same oak-beamed rooms that stagecoach passengers once did or you can cross the cobbled courtyard and sleep in one of our larger, more modern style rooms in our converted stables and coach house.

We have 35 beautiful en suite guest rooms at The Bear; each one unique and a room to suit every occasion and every budget with some boasting relaxing spa baths to our Honeymoon Suite with a gorgeous original four poster bed.

A number of our rooms can accommodate extra beds or twin occupancy to accommodate families but rest assured whatever you decide, you will have a comfortable bed, good quality towels and toiletries and a relaxing nights sleep.

We are very dog friendly at The Bear and dogs are even invited to stay free! Each furry, four legged guest is given a welcome pack to welcome them to our friendly hotel and guests can dine with their dogs in the bar and then enjoy a long, tiresome walk across the hundreds of miles of unspoilt, scenic National Park.

As well as our stunning guest rooms; The Bear Hotel also offers great food that will leave you feeling satisfied with a wide choice of menu options, all using locally sourced ingredients and well cooked to suit traditional tastes or those guests with an appetite for finer dining. Guests can choose where they want to eat – in amongst the chatter and laughter of the bar, the more intimate candle-lit surroundings of our table-service restaurants, or amongst the floral displays in our summer garden.

The bar oozes character and is thoughtfully decorated with antiques and some carefully chosen memorabilia it is the classic British pub. Roaring open fires in the winter and fresh cut flowers bring a touch of elegance to a mature, robust area. We are delighted to offer the same menus in the bar as we do in the restaurant.
