Plas Dolguog is surrounded by the stunning countryside of Southern Snowdonia and Mid Wales and is the perfect base from which to explore the area.

Guarded by the mountains of Powys and Meirionydd, bounded by the river Dulas and fine timbered slopes, are the rich meadowlands of Cuog, son of one of the warrior Princes of Powys. Here a fine house was built. Since that day in the 6th century Plas Dolguog has been Somewhere Special.

A plaque on the wall, dated 1632, records that the present building was modernised over 370 years ago. Throughout the centuries it has been lived in by many illustrious Welshmen, several of who have added interesting extensions to the building. Plas Dolguog has now been sensitively converted into a country house hotel comprising of a comfortable bar, lounge, quality cuisine served in Cu Og's Restaurant, and 12 well-appointed ensuite bedrooms.

A high vantage point overlooks the Dyfi Valley where the River Dulas can be seen emerging from its rocky gorge into a broad shingle shored pool in a confluence with the River Dyfi, producing the perfect setting for riverside walks, bird watching or fishing for salmon and sea trout from our own stretch of water.

The unrivalled setting and quality of Plas Dolguog Hotel makes for the ideal location for weddings and functions. The hotel holds a licence for civil wedding ceremonies allowing the complete package to take place within the hotel and spectacular grounds.

īGrandma's Gardenī is set within the estate of Plas Dolguog Hotel, the gardens encompass mature and new planting, wildflowers and wildlife, sculptures and carvings, vistas and views with benches to enjoy them from.

In Spring the daffodils, snowdrops, bluebells and scented azaleas delight the senses. Fifty species of tree and shrub create a stunning arboretum. Small gardens designed to speak through the language of the senses with which we are each blessed include a garden of sound, scent, touch, a garden of sight and light and a children's enchanted garden. A stone circle, wildlife pond and many sculptures make the garden a unique and fascinating experience.
