Details

Borthwood Cottages on the Isle of Wight were originally a milking parlour but have been beautifully renovated to a high standard to offer superb self catering accommodation. Our cottages are in a tranquil rural location of outstanding natural beauty. We are only 2 miles from the gorgeous sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin and close to Borthwood Copse, a National Trust bluebell wood.

This is an ideal base for exploring the Island and have been designed to provide spacious family accommodation, incorporating disabled facilities. In the neighbouring fields, you will meet Erick and his family - our pet Highland cows. They can often be seen helping us keep the grass down in the paddocks around the self catering cottages.

Three of our cottages, Elm, Oak and Rose Cottages, been awarded four stars by Visit England and graded M2 by the English Tourism Council which is suitable for wheelchair users with assistance. We also have Laurel cottage which is not graded but has similar features. The holiday cottages are brick built with slate roofs, fully insulated and completely double–glazed. The majority of rooms have a southerly aspect with stunning views.

Elms sleeps 4 people, whilst Rose, Oak and Laurel sleep 6 people. There is full central heating and the cost of all service, duvets, bed linen and towels are included in the tariff. Rose, Oak and Elm are normally available on a Saturday to Saturday basis during the peak season whilst Laurel Cottage is available Friday to Friday, but on a more flexible basis during other periods.

The Isle of Wight is renowned for its scenery, lovely walks and cycle tracks. Borthwood Cottages are ideally situated for exploring the Island whether you are walking, cycling or in a car. Locally there are lovely walks and bike rides - you can explore nearby Borthwood Copse or stroll around Alverstone Mead Local Nature Reserve. If you pick up the disused railway track at nearby Alverstone village, you can walk or cycle into Sandown one way or Newport the other. In Newchurch, you will find a lovely old church dating back to the 13th Century.
