Ross Holiday Homes is a family run business and we enjoy holidays in the lodges ourselves. Over the years our children, parents and grandparents have enjoyed the peace around the lodges in Blackmuir Wood and had ‘adventures’ in the forest surroundings.

Our tranquil Forestry Commission setting enables you to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and have a traffic free holiday, should you so desire. Blackmuir Wood, which surrounds the lodges, is a walkers’ and bird watchers’ paradise. Young children have the perfect playground of trees and sticks a‐plenty on the doorstep and our dogs think it is their ideal holiday too!

Each Lodge is double glazed and sleeps 4 people, with one double‐bedroom and one twin‐bedded room, open plan living area, bathroom and utility room.

The living area comprises a large but cosy lounge providing television with digital freeview and dvd player and kitchenette with pine dining table. French doors lead to a covered balcony which overlooks part of the surrounding Forestry Commission woodland, garden furniture is provided.

The plentiful local fauna can be viewed at close proximity and birds are encouraged around both lodges with feeders. The utility rooms each have a washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and extra storage.

Both of the lodges are just outside Strathpeffer in the Highlands of Scotland, they are called Eagle and Otter Lodge. These lodges can be booked for a week at a time or, upon enquiry, for short breaks to the highlands of Scotland from March to October.

A private car park is provided, although direct car access to each lodge is not possible.
Both are approached along gravel paths; Eagle Lodge is approximately 50 yards from the car park and the path to Otter Lodge is about 75 yards down a slight slope with steps up to the cabin itself.

Strathpeffer has a number of grand Victorian hotels, most of which offer evening dinner to non‐residents. It also has a selection of village shops including a small supermarket & off‐license (open until 8:00pm every evening), grocer, butcher, newsagent, chemist, hairdresser, craft‐shop, tea‐rooms and a cycle shop for sales, rentals and repairs.

The village is within easy reach of Inverness (30 minutes by car) and many local scenic attractions. John O’Groats on the northern most edge of Scotland,Gairloch on the West Coast and Aviemore to the south are within day trip distances.

The lodges are reached along a Forestry Commission track on the edge of Strathpeffer. The nearest public transport (bus) is reached by turning right at the bottom of the Forestry Commission track and walking down hill into the village. The bus stop is a quarter of a mile down the hill in the village.

The forest road is closed to traffic and makes an ideal forest walk, guaranteeing you a tranquil forestry setting to relax and enjoy your holiday!
