Drover's Rest Farm near Hay-on-Wye offers outstanding self catering accommodation, nestled on our chamming 16th Century organic farm. Our gorgeous cottages near Hereford are super dog friendly and set at the foothills of the Black Mountains in the Golden Valley in Herefordshire, perfect for the ultimate country escape.

Our 3 wonderful cottages are the perfect place to stay for nature lovers looking for somewhere special to stay. We are surrounded by 200 acres of lush fields, a magnificent forest and a bubbling brook, offering a truly tranquil and relaxing place to stay for those wishing to escape the pressures of modern life.

Your unforgettable country retreat begins as you drive up to our scenic farm, through our stunning woodland lane to our magical farmstead. Our pet friendly cottages are great for family holidays, with lots of fantastic activities onsite to enjoy.

Drover's Cottage – Sleeps 2 - 4: This fabulous cottage is ideal for a peaceful staycation in the countryside. This beautifully furnished cottage is surrounded by a sheep-grazed common high above the Wye and offers plenty of seclusion. Inside there are super king and twin beds, perfect for a restful night’s sleep after a day of exploring. Both en suite rooms boast lavish monsoon showers.

You can rustle up some delicious dishes in the well-equipped kitchen which has a fridge/freezer, a gas stove with an oven and a microwave. Unwind in the cosy living room which has a toasty wood burner for the winter months and Sky+ TV. Outside there is a delightful enclosed walled garden which is ideal for your four-legged friend.

The Shepherd's Shack – Sleeps 2 - 4: Our stunning cottage used to be a Drovers shack but has now been exquisitely renovated to offer high-quality accommodation. The cottage enjoys lovely views over the farm’s courtyard to the front, whilst to the back of the cottage you can savour the views of the stream and the sheep grazed common.

Inside there are two attractive double en suite bedrooms that offer sumptuous monsoon showers to soak yourself under. The magnificent, beamed living area has a wood burner for those chilly days and Sky+ TV. Enjoy some home-cooking in the well-equipped kitchen which has a gas stove with an oven and fridge/freezer. Outside the relaxing garden forms part of the pebbled farm courtyard.

Cart-house Cottage – Sleeps 2 - 4: This superb cottage has been recently restored from the Old Cart House, great for an unforgettable family holiday. The cottage’s circular pillars had to be rebuilt from scratch to offer truly dazzling accommodation. You can book this cottage if you wish to be near our safari glamping meadow, offering a private garden that opens onto the glamping field.

The cottage has ultra-comfy double and twins, plus a luxurious monsoon shower to soak your troubles away under. Cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen which has a gas stove with an oven and a fridge/freezer. Catch your favourite show on the TV which includes Sky+ whilst staying toasty in front of the wood burner.

Throughout the year we open our fantastic farm kitchen and larder for guests. Whether you fancy some yummy street food or a mouth-watering 3-course wild feast, we have something for everyone. Our food showcases the seasons, offering fresh seasonal ingredients direct from the fields, grown organically on the farm, locally sourced or foraged from hedgerows around us. The farm shop serves delicious food as well, including meat and BBQ boxes. You can also enjoy a drink or two from our bar which serves refreshing cocktails, gins, beers, cider and wine.

On the farm, we offer an array of brilliant activities, including feeding the animals, cultivating veg, making sloe gin or jam, learning a rural craft or foraging. Our educational farm tours are great for the whole family, and we also offer amazing workshops.

Our farm is in a brilliant location for discovering all the superb attractions the area has to offer. This part of the country is famous for its spectacular walks, from a brisk 1-hour walk to a week’s national trail. Try a new outdoor activity at Black Mountain activities or ride a horse in the Brecon Beacons whilst admiring the amazing natural landscape. Take a magical canoe trip down the River Rye or take a dip at Bredwardine Bridge or the Warren if you fancy some wild swimming.

The quaint riverside market town of Hay-on-Wye is just down the road and renowned for its winding streets which are lined with old stone buildings. Hay is famous for its annual book festival and is also home to quirky shops, antique stores, fantastic restaurants and bustling bars. Superb attractions to visit for a great day out include:
