Details

The Kings Head Hotel is ideally situated in the picturesque Herefordshire town of Ross-on-Wye. This small market town offers an ideal base to explore the beautiful Forest of Dean, the stunning landscape of the Cotswolds, the wonderful Welsh Borders or even the towering Brecon Beacons National Park.

The Kings Head, which dates back to the 14th century, is situated in the most picturesque street in the centre of Ross. Until the advent of the railways in the 19th century, the Hotel was a small Coaching Inn. During Georgian times an extra storey was added and the facade changed to the current one. The Kings Head has open fireplaces and a wealth of oak beams. A tunnel reputedly runs in the cellar past the 12th century well to the old Saracens Head Inn. Occasionally there have been reports of ghosts and the clatter of horses from time past. We aim to bring the warmth of welcome and hospitality of a bygone age with convenience of the 22nd Century.

Our Rooms:

The Kings Head has fifteen rooms, each with full en suite. Four poster, family and twin rooms are available. All rooms have tea and coffee trays, complimentary mineral water, trouser presses, direct dial access telephones, televisions with five terrestrial channels plus Sky News, (superior rooms with freeview and flat screen television). Wireless internet is available and free; coverage extends to most of the hotel.

The Kings Bar offers local hand pulled traditional real ales, CAMRA recommended. A popular destination for locals, with a traditional local Inn atmosphere. With impressive oak beamed ceiling, wooden floors and comfortable leather and wooden seating. A full range of single malts, spirits and wine by the glass or bottle. Bar meals served at lunchtime and evenings, Sunday to Thursday.

The Kings Head has two dining areas, the rear conservatory restaurant and the cosy front restaurant. Our award winning Chef uses market fresh ingredients in both restaurant and bar meals. We have a regular a la carte menu and a changing specials board. Fresh fish and game a speciality.

The restaurant is also open to non residents and is extremely popular in the local area. To guarantee a reservation at the restaurant please contact the hotel in advance to make a booking. Bar meals are not served on Friday and Saturday nights.

Ross-on-Wye is a small market town nestling alongside the meandering River Wye. It is an ideal base to explore the surrounding countryside, including the Forest of Dean, The Brecon Beacons, Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds. Also a great stopping off point for trips to Cardiff or even racing at Chepstow or Cheltenham.
