Three traditional one and two bedroom stone holiday cottages, each completely different with their own individual style.

All three of our cottages, Stables , Nutmeg's and Skyber are quite different, both in layout and ambience.

The Stables and Nutmeg's both have two bedrooms and are ideal accommodation for four people. Skyber is a cosy one bedroom cottage ideal for two.

Stables Cottage:

The doorway to this two story cottage is extra wide as it used to accommodate three large working horses of yesteryear. They were housed in what has become the living room which now features an impressive granite fireplace with electric "living" fire, slate floor and stone stairs to the upper floor. Where the best trap, used for church on Sundays, was stored now forms the kitchen and dining area. The dining area has circular pine table and chairs. Above was formerly the hay and corn store for their winter feed. It is now reached by the stone stairway with its novel horse shoe banister.

Upstairs, the main bedroom features a double four poster bed. The room is double aspect with the larger east facing window, which goes down to the floor, giving early morning sunlight. Both windows offer uninterrupted rural views. The original roof timbers and sloping ceiling restrict headroom to the sides of the bed. There is an en suite bathroom with full sized bath, toilet and basin. The second bedroom has two 3ft beds and both East and West facing windows. There is a basin in the bedroom and a compact en suite shower room and toilet.

Nutmegs Cottage:

Completely rebuilt in the early 90's, this cottage was formerly the home of our first horse 'Nutmeg' which she used to share with a Muscovy duck and a very large pet sheep called 'Wooly Bully' who kept her company during thunder storms. Entering via a granite pillared porch, you will find the kitchen with granite work surface, built in electric cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. Up a half flight of slate stairs is the living room, open to the roof with exposed beams. Nutmeg cottage - North Cornwall. There is an impressive open fire with galleried landing. Here you will find the dinning table, there is also a breakfast bar in the kitchen.

Up the second half flight of stairs you reach the landing, a double bedroom with splendid views over the old yard to the fields and river beyond. The second bedroom has twin beds and a roof window. The bathroom has shower over the full size bath. Outside the west facing living room window is Nutmeg's own private garden with comfortable garden furniture for alfresco dinning, or just to relax at the end of the day with a glass or two and absorb the evening atmosphere.

Skyber:

Skyber means shippon or animal house in the Cornish language. When we came to Old Newham, this building was used to house six dairy cows tied up in stalls, although it would seem that a hundred years or more ago it may have been an open fronted implement store with its granite columns along the front wall. Now it forms a very cosy one level cottage for two. Entering via a useful porch, you pass the pine clad bathroom with shower over a full sized bath on the way to the comfortable living room featuring two wing arm chairs and oak fireplace with electric "living" wood-burner stove.

The dining area is in an alcove to the left. The very well equipped kitchen area has black granite work tops, a built in electric cooker, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. The bedroom leads off the living room with double bed. Outside is a small patio area and a private west facing garden with furniture for relaxing and eating.

All the cottages have easy access to the many attractions, glorious countryside and magnificent beaches of Cornwall and North Devon.
