Hillside Village is in an idyllic location at the heart of picturesque Aberdovey/Aberdyfi (in the Snowdonia National Park) Wales UK. We welcome dogs, the properties are all dog friendly, they are all different and it is worth giving us a call on 01654 767522 to discuss your particular parties requirements, so we can suggest ones that would suit you best. We have a family of guests that stay with year on year and some a few times a year. We have something for everyone looking at staying with us, whether you are couple, first time parent, small and large family, want to bring your dogs or extended family looking for more than one property on the same site; We are in an fantastic location for enjoying Aberdovey and the area, by foot, rail or car, we also have outdoor and indoor facilities available for our guests to enjoy. We are close to everything in Aberdovey, so you do not need to drive to get to the beach, shops, restaurants etc.

Our Holiday Cottages, Houses and Apartments are comfortably furnished and have varying characters, layouts and numbers they sleep. Dogs as mentioned above are very welcome; all our properties have at least one terrace or balcony, several have more than one! Many of our regulars take more than one property at a time, so they can bring extended families together in one place.

Our Webcam is positioned on Eastward and is set to pan 180 degrees from East to West through South and back again. It is a continuous feed 24/7. It is on our homepage https://www.hillsidevillage.co.uk. There may be cloud over the hills in the distance you will observe that we are often bathed in sunshine! The Webcam illustrates the ever-changing views that our guests enjoy. The changes in the light; cloud cover; wind; the tide rising and falling and the boating activity on the water each moment is never the same. Guest Car Park – We provide dedicated parking, so guests have their specific parking space(s) available to them during their stay. The guest parking area is tucked away so as not to infer with the views from the properties. This is a very popular facility for guests, it means that when they go off for the day they can return knowing with confidence they will have a parking place available to them when they return.

Aberdovey - You can walk to anywhere in Aberdovey from Hillside Village, and up into the hills above us using the Wales Coast Path, which we are on! There is another public footpath that takes you along a scenic route to Penhelig, from the Penhelig Railway Station you can enjoy the delightful scenery of the Cambrian Coast Railway to such places as Tywyn and connect to the Talyllyn Narrow Guage Railway; Harlech Castle; Portmerion and Porthmadog (which is on the Festiniog & Welsh Highland Railway and travel on by steam loco to Caernarfon, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Beddgelert amongst others).

Things to enjoy in walking distance - Sailing, Sailboarding, Kitesurfing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Paddleboarding on the estuary, enjoy the waves off the length of the beach, which is open to Cardigan Bay - surfing, body boarding, kitesurfing etc, watch out for the dolphins there too, as they follow fish in close to the shore. Chartered Fishing Trips. Crabbing off the Jetty a must for kids during their stay. Golf at Aberdovey Golf Club - PGA Lessons, Caddies, buggies and trolley hire; Aberdovey Lawn Bowls Club is open to visitors, it has in addition to a fine Lawn Bowling Green, Tennis Courts, Croquet and Putting course.Take to your road or mountain bike and enjoy the variety of terrain. Bike hire is also available. Fish the river Dovey (Dyfi) and enjoy some of the best sea trout and salmon fishing in the uk; Neuadd Dyfi - holds a variety of events throughout the year, including Art exhibitions, theatre and musical productions both local and those on tour, and every January the Aberdovey Panto (see a pic of one of the productions above!). Aberdovey has stylish boutiques and other specialty shops, an art gallery where local artist exhibit; there is pharmacy and two small supermarkets one incorporating a Post Office; there’s an award-winning butcher (Welsh lamb is a speciality, of course!) and you can buy freshly-caught seafood from the harbour pier (Dai's Shed). Aberdovey ice-cream parlours, cafes, restaurants, pubs and of course is a fish and chip shop, and other takeaways some of the restaurants offer a take away service too. Out and about - There are plenty of other things to do, just a short drive or train journey. Tywyn 4 miles away is the starting point for the Talyllyn narrow gauge railway, it also has a Cimema, an indoor swimming pool amongst other facilities in its Leisure Centre and numerous shops and reasturants including a Supermarket. Machynllyth 10 miles away also has a Leisure Centre, A modern Art Gallery and theatre “the Tabinacle”. Both Tywyn and Machynllyth have markets Monday/Wednesdays. Aberystwyth is also worth a visit. The Centre for Alternative Technology is just outside Machynlleth on the Road to Corris with its railway, King Arthurs Labyrinth and Mine Explorers. For the hi-octane Mountain bikers of you the Dyfi Bike Park is a must. RSPB Ynyshir where the BBC Spring Autumn and Winterwatch programs were held for several years is just on the other side of the estuary, as is the Osprey Centre.

Going North and East from Tywyn you are quickly into the Cader Idris range of mountains, providing spectacular scenery beauty spots such as, Bird Rock where Cormorants continue to make their home, the Cregennen Lake, and nestling at the foot of Cader is the Castell y Bere the stronghold of built in the 1220s by Llywelyn the Great. Dolgellau county the town of Meirioneth as was is about 45 minutes away and very much worth a visit as is walking across the railway bridge across the Mawddach Estuary to Barmouth, you can park at Arthog railway station. Just beyond Dolgellau you have Coed y Benin Trail Centre, provides bike trails for all standard and great walk area. A little further and you can visit the Llechwedd slates mines run by Zipworld, home of Titan (Europe’s largest zipping zone), Caverns and Bounce Below. Harlech Castle and Portmerion are only just over an hours drive if you do not want to take the train!
